Is Edie's cousin Lottie really crazy, is she dangerous, and what secrets does she harbor? What happened to Archie during the war? But all are resolved, in a satisfactory way.

All of the characters come together for Vi's 78th birthday, and for a big, fancy, house party and dance at a minor character's home. I would add that another character is Scotland. While meeting the many characters: Noel, Alexa, Archie, Isobel, Edie, Henry, Edmund, Virginia (and more!), you soon learn they are all connected to the central character, elderly Violet Aird (Vi). I had a little trouble getting started, but once I did, I couldn't really put it down.
